|MILLENNIUM SERIES (c. 1999), BY CAROL COOK|
ACQUIRED FROM THE ARTIST, ARTSPLOSURE 1999, RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA, MAY 1999
MIXED MEDIA (ACRYLIC, GESSOES, METALLIC OIL PASTEL) ON MUSEUM BOARD, FRAMED SIZE 10 1/4" BY 10 1/4"
To quote from Carol's info sheet:
In the Millennium Series, letters, numerals, and symbols from various languages and cultures are layered and fragmented to create abstract images with a weathered archaeological feel.As the above states, one original 28" square work is divided into 4 14" squares, which can be rearranged at will. These three works, however, are themselves quadrants of quadrants... 7" squares made from other 14" squares. I really like the way these works seem to contain pieces of a much larger image. Unlike the normal series, these three are all signed, since they may not have all originated in the same work.
